Sales Engineer – Entry Level

Summary:

The primary objective is making sure short- and long-term sales revenue goals are met. This will require the correct applicant to learn products, customers, current forecasts, manufacturing capabilities, etc. to support the VP of Sales and Marketing. In addition, responsibilities include supporting all stages of the sales process as well as business development and marketing activities.  Compliance with AS, ISO and internal process requirements is necessary.

Essential Functions:

Assist VP of Sales in:

  • Maintaining sales forecasts and Key Accounts Quad Charts
  • Working with Marketing to maintain sufficient backlog of qualified leads
  • Tracking, reporting, and closing customers open issues, including for new opportunities
  • Researching and documenting data for competitors, markets, and industry intelligence
  • Updating Strategic Plan
  • Reviewing customer drawings, specifications, statements of work and communicating requirements to the team.
  • Drafting technical proposals in response to customer requirements
  • Supporting business development strategies
  • Supporting visits to customers and technical conferences
  • Occasional travel for customer visits or trade shows

    Job Skills & Qualifications Required:

    • 4-year engineering or another technical degree
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Project)
    • Must be a US Person
    • Excel in written and verbal communication

    • Must be a U.S. Person

    Preferred:

    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
    • Values precision and enforces quality standards
    • Ability to understand G-code
    • Experience with GD&T and statistical process control

    CNC Machinist

    Summary:

    CMM Optic is actively seeking a CNC machinist at our Troy facility to aid our company in its mission to deliver precision metal parts to our customers. As one of our CNC machinists, you will interpret part drawings, set up the machine and monitor it as it operates. You will make critical contributions to our company’s reputation, ensuring the excellence of our products by following inspection protocols and detecting errors that may occur in manufacturing. You will undergo training on 2-axis lathes and multi-axis milling machines, as well as state-of-the-art inspection equipment.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Discuss project specifications with engineers and supervisors to guarantee consistency between plans and products, and collaborate to modify designs when existing ones are not feasible
    • Oversee cutting process, make adjustments throughout each job, and take necessary measures to eliminate errors
    • Review and interpret cutting plans, enter them into control outlets before jobs and alter them to correct mistakes when necessary
    • Inspect all finished products for accuracy and uniformity to ensure product quality and uphold company reputation
    • Perform periodic maintenance tasks to ensure machine longevity, including lubrication, cleaning, and tool replacement

    Job Skills & Qualifications Required:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • At least one year of experience operating CNC machines
    • Comfortable using tools and maintaining machinery
    • Must be a U.S. Person

    Programmer

     Summary:

    As a CNC programmer/machinist at our Troy facility, this role will work with minimal guidance and communicate training and instruction to both the quality dept and the machinists. The programmer will select tools and processes for manufacturing, create, and edit programs, and build setup sheets and tool lists. Programmers are also expected to ensure compliance of products with internal, and customer requirements,
    and support the disposition of materials with quality questions. The position requires interfacing with internal customers, external customers, and occasionally with suppliers.

    Additional responsibilities may include:
    •Manages multiple projects and project task activities. Project activities include manufacturing plan development, as well as data collection and analysis.
    •Demonstrates a high level of self-initiative and bias for action.
    •Demonstrates ability to solve problems and exercises creativity to develop and implement practical solutions.
    •Proven track record of “getting things done.” This position requires a firm understanding of machining and GD&T, so the individual must be hands-on and able to get things accomplished.
    •Collaborates with engineering staff to identify possible fixturing or tolerance-related problems.
    •Consults with Engineering Design, Supply and Quality operations as needed.

    Basic Qualifications:
    • Experience with Mastercam
    • Programming and setup experience
    • Understanding of GD&T
    • Basic knowledge of G-code for Fanuc lathes and mills
    • Must be a U.S. Person
