Community Support

Supporting Detroit from the ground up.

Grosse Pointe Old Devils

The Grosse Pointe Old Devils provides support for academic growth, athletic development and life skills for underserved youth. It does this by assisting Detroit children with building reading skills, supporting local youth hockey by underwriting 20 kids a season who would not otherwise have the opportunity to play and compete in a sport, and spearheads a program that teaches inner-city youth how to swim every summer. CMM Optic supports this organization financially as well through its president’s service on the Board of Directors.

Because of COVID-19 this year, our efforts to support Detroit youth with prepared meals, online mentoring, mentor training and literacy programs are more important than ever before. Watch the short video below to learn how much of an impact this program has in the Detroit area.

Western Golf Association Evans Scholars

Operated by the Western Gold Association, the Evans Scholars Foundation has helped more than 10,600 caddies graduate from college since its creation in 1930. ESF provides full tuition and college housing to promising young men and women who require financial assistance to attend college. CMM Optic supports this organization through its president’s service as a director, and in the hiring of past and current Scholars as interns. CMM Optic currently has a former Scholar on its senior management team.

The 2019 event raised over $100,000 for the day, which is an all-time record. The Western Golf Association awarded 285 new Evans Scholarships as a result of the fundraising support.
